ASBA team calls on Mithi
ITANAGAR, Jul 12: A team of Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) led by its Secretary Bamang Tago called on Rajya Sabha Member Mukut Mithi, who is also the president of ASBA, at his residence here today and apprised him about future activities and various resolutions adopted by ASBA in the last executive body meeting for development and promotion of badminton in Arunachal Pradesh.
Tago apprised Mithi about the problem faced by ASBA due to insufficient infrastructure (courts), and urged him to take up the matter with the state government for construction of few more badminton courts. He informed Mithi that as per BAI guidelines/rules/ atleast four courts are required to hold any national event.

EE clarifies
ITANAGAR, Jul 12: Power generation from Rina SHP (2x1000 kw) has been halted from July 3 due to failure of the 110 volt DC battery bank and its charging unit as well as 2000 A air circuit breaker of generator panel but not due to damage of turbines, clarified Tayum Udik Taba, Executive Engineer (EM).
Responding to a news item published in this daily regarding the shutting down of the hydel project, the EE informed that necessary action to restore power generation has already been initiated though it may take week more time as requisite spare parts are not readily available in the nearby market. The Parliamentary Secretary (HPD) is also taking keen interest and personally monitoring for early restoration of the plant and has assured to provide necessary fund for early restoration of power generation, the EE said.
In a news item published in this daily, it was stated that power generation at 2 mw Rina hydel had come to a halt after two turbines were damaged.

Reconsider transfer order: ATSU

DAPORIJO, Jul 12: All Tagin Students’ Union (ATSU) has strongly objected to the transfer of Er. Lardik Kare, who is also holding the post of Secretary General of Tagin Cultural Society.
ATSU in a release alleged that his transfer from Dumporijo has been instigated by some individuals/group to fulfill vested interests.
Being the Secretary General of TCS, he has a big responsibility towards the society and his transfer will hamper the welfare activities being initiated by the society, ATSU said.
Er. Lardik Kare has contributed immensely to the society during his tenure as Secretary General of TCS and his transfer will bring a complete halt to development initiatives by him, the ATSU release said and appealed to the authority concerned to reconsider his transfer order in the greater interest of the of society as a whole.

Chief Engineers of Highway Zones (PWD) and Chief Engineers from BRO were also present.
Through PowerPoint presentations, the Chief Engineers apprised the Chief Minister and other dignitaries the status of various roads and highway program in the state. Matter concerning modality for expedient land acquisition and forest clearance of highway projects were discussed at length. A coordinated effort of all stake holders was emphasized for smooth and timely implementation of highway projects.
The PCCF had agreed to depute a senior officer of Forest Department to Regional Office, MoEF, Shillong and New Delhi for pursuing such clearance.

Hapless BSNL victim of natural calamities and miscreants
ITANAGAR, Jul 12: BSNL has blamed natural calamities and “miscreants” for its bad services in the capital region and elsewhere. While thousands of meters of the cables have been stolen by individuals, government departments are also not far behind.
BSNL squarely put the blame on PWD, Highways, Urban Development Department, PHE for destruction of underground cables, termination cabinets and overhead lines.
Main transmission media connecting the state with other places is also being affected every fortnight due to natural calamities and because of miscreants, BSNL said.
In first few days of July alone more than 1500 meters of overhead cables have been stolen between the main pillar and Niti Vihar affecting more than 35 customers.
BSNL further informed that the team constructing Secretariat Gate has managed to vanish 400 lines Cabinet supplying connections to ESS Sector. It was the same cabinet from where BSNL was planning to give Telephone and Broadband connections to new state secretariat.
BSNL further said that there has been no compensation from state government so far, nor complaining to Police station has yielded any fruitful result. The BSNL while asking for some time for restoration work, appealed to the customers to be more vigilant and look out for probable thieves.
BSNL stated that it is running out of restoration materials. We had enough in our stock but since July 2012 we are continuously consuming all the restoration materials while restoring our underground cables, termination cabinets and overhead lines damaged by government departments, it said.
Revenue earning sources through underground Cables are also reduced to minus, BSNL said while adding that BSNL has been literally in pathetic condition since last few years in Capital Complex.
MWS, ASF demand arrest of attackers
ITANAGAR, Jul 12: Expressing deep shock and anguish over the violent attack on student leader Unti Umbrey, the Mishmi Welfare Society (MWS), Itanagar appealed to the authority concerned to nab the culprits and extend exemplary punishment to them as per law. Former president of All Idu Mishmi Students Union (AIMSU) Unti Umbrey in his FIR had said that upto 20 people barged into his rented apartment at 12.30 AM on July 11 and attacked him with a dao and also beat up two of his friends while another one was locked up.
Citing the FIR lodged with Itanagar Police Station in this regard, the Society expressed dissatisfaction saying that the culprits named in the FIR have not been arrested so far.
The MWS also appealed all concerned to refrain from making any inflammatory remarks on various media regarding this case which may harm the social harmony.
Meanwhile, Arunachal Students’ Federation (ASF) has demanded the Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner to arrest all the culprits involved in brutal assault on student leader Unti Umbrey and two others. In its letter to the Deputy Commissioner, ASF informed that Unti has sustained grievous cut injury on his back side, forehead and leg and he was admitted at RK Mission Hospital in a critical condition. The attackers also ransacked the rented house of Unti and reportedly damaged laptop, TV and furniture, it added.
On the other hand, Ibom Riram and Tagori Mize, vice president (Pro) of ASF, were assaulted physically by the culprits without any reason, the letter said.
While condemning the incident in its strongest term, ASF demanded the DC to bring all the culprits to book immediately and award them capital punishment for their barbaric act. (Name of Tagori Mize was wrongly printed as Agori Mize in yesterday’s issue of this daily. The mistake is regretted)

ITANAGAR, Jul 12: Irritated over the frequent load shedding, low voltage and no electricity, the people of Pasighat irrespective of their status and affiliation came together under the umbrella of Pasighat Peoples' Welfare Committee (PPWC) and held an open discussion at Pasighat today.
The house expressed their anguish over the poor electricity scenario in spite of repeated assurance by the Government.
All the present gave emphasis on the immediate restoration of the 132 KV Tower Line from Aalo to Pasighat which was assured by the present Chief Minister and former Minister of Power on many occasion.
Some speakers also informed that restoration of Sille and Yembung Hydel projects was to be completed many months back as tender process was over but till today no constructive activities has been observed on both this projects. The house demanded immediate and early restoration of both the projects and immediate restoration of Rina Hydel projects on priority basis. M/s APE Power Pvt. Ltd Kolkata was awarded works for Yembung hydel while M/s Swamina International Kolkata was entrusted the work of Sille hydel project.
Meanwhile, the house took up all the above mentioned demands with the local MLA Kaling Moyong to liaise with all other MLA's of the district to place these genuine demands in the floor of the Assembly House which begins from July 25.

ABKYW resolves to promote, protect and preserve rich cultural heritage

While delivery the presidential speech ABKYW President Aling Pinggam said that the youth wing has decided to organize MISS ADI 2014 contest with an objective to provide a platform to the young girls to showcase their talents as well as to encourage and prepare them to participate in state and regional level beauty contests and informed that 40 percent of the total tickets sale would go to the fund of orphanage for poor and needy people.
